Service Description and Scope
Backscreen is a cross-generation OTT (Over-the-Top) streaming platform designed to engage audiences of all ages—from those who prefer traditional live TV to younger viewers who enjoy modern, content-wall experiences. The platform offers flexible UX modes, integrated monetization, and scalable delivery options for diverse media streaming needs.
Backscreen allows users to upload and store video files and related assets (such as audio, subtitles, and metadata), ingest and record live streams, process media for streaming or external use, manage content via a self-service portal, publish streams and embed players on third-party websites and applications, and access analytics data. Additional tools include API integrations for workflow automation and configuration options for optimal performance.

Scope of This Accessibility Statement:


This statement applies to the following Backscreen services:

• Backscreen OTT applications (Web, Android, Smart TV)

Other Backscreen products, such as  Webplay, Media, and Admin, are currently not covered by this statement and do not yet include accessibility adaptations.

Accessibility Evaluation:


An internal accessibility assessment has been carried out for the covered platforms, including OTT applications.

Commitment to Accessibility

Backscreen is committed to ensuring that all users can access and use our services without barriers. We strive to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

• Current conformance level: Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level A
• Goal: Achieve full Level AA compliance

We regularly monitor and review accessibility through periodic assessments and updates to ensure compliance and an improved user experience.

Compatibility and Assistive Technology

Backscreen works with major web browsers and is designed for compatibility with assistive technologies such as:

• Screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
• Keyboard-only navigation
• Voice recognition software

Where the Service connects to external hardware or third-party tools (e.g., media players, analytics services), we strive to ensure accessibility but cannot guarantee full conformance for third-party solutions.

Compliance Status

Backscreen is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level A.


This means that some accessibility requirements have not yet been fully met, but improvements are in progress.

Known Non-Conformities

• Non-text Content – Some images and media elements lack alternative text
• Keyboard Navigation – Some interactive components are not fully keyboard-accessible
• Focus Visible – Focus indicators are missing in some areas
• Captions and Transcripts – Not all video content includes captions or transcripts
• Third-party integrations (e.g., video hosting, analytics) may not fully meet accessibility requirements

Planned Improvements

We are actively working to enhance accessibility through the following features:

• Text Size Adjustment: Support for adjusting text size within the application and dynamic font resizing based on the device operating system settings.
• Subtitle Styling: Options to customize subtitle font, size, shadow, and background color through app settings.
• Video Playback Speed: Ability to adjust video playback speed within the media player.
• Screen Reader Support: Full compatibility with device-level screen readers to convert text and visual elements into alternative sensory outputs.
• Voice Commands: Support for voice command input via operating system screen reader features.
• Keyboard Shortcuts: Control media playback using keyboard shortcuts for play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, full-screen toggle, and volume adjustment.
• Reduced Motion: Option to minimize or disable motion effects and animated elements for users sensitive to movement.
• Contrast and Display Adjustments: Dynamic contrast and display adjustments in line with device operating system accessibility settings.

These features are currently under development and will be rolled out in upcoming updates.
